The renewed monumental waterfall of the Italian resort town Santa Maria di Leuca was opened after renovation. One of the most beautiful places in Italy undergone a work of artistic LED lighting. The artistic p roject opening on May 15, 2015 was attended by Italian political and religious leaders.
The waterfall’s LED lighting project in the Santa Maria di Leuca was developed by «Enel Sole». Design of the project consist of about three hundred LED lights arranged in a cascade manner, the beams are directed at the most striking elements of the artistically waterfall - the river bed and Obelisk waterfall promenade around the source.
Many tourists and local people came to see the opening of the LED waterfall and in the summer season it will gather thousands of visitors because the waterfall not only one of the most beautiful places in Italy but with the new LED lighting system it looks really unique.
One of the biggest UK stadiums will be completely upgraded for the coming football season 2015-2016. The huge sports facility is about to replace the outdated lighting system with a new one made by modern LED technology. LED-spotlights installed around the perimeter of the stadium, will serve for ten seasons, whereas previously installed metal halide lamps had to be completely replaced every three seasons.

The first household LED lamps under standard socket E27 and E14 had had some disadvantages: uncomfortable lighting color, low color rendering index (CRI), leading to the misperception of colors surrounding objects, pulsation (flashing light), the inability to work with switches having a light and brightness.
Just over a year ago, the first lamp on the new generation of LED strands (filament) were introduced. LED filament represent a sapphire or glass base with a multiple diodes (Chip on Board). The Nobel Prize for LEDs

Work or reading by the blue and white light can lead to depression, and red light and darkness affect mood less, according to a paper published in the Journal of Neuroscience.
"Working at night can lead the brain mood regulating area to receiving signals in the time of day when they should not do. “Perhaps, therefore, night lighting leads some people to depression," - explained Tracy Bedrozian from the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego (USA).

Bedrozian and her colleagues traced the lighting of different colors affect the behavior of hamsters. Then hamster’s moods were tested by giving them sweet syrup, which they drink when they are fill less depressed.
The results showed that most hamsters drank sweet water when staying during night in the dark room or with red lightening. Blue and white light spoils the mood. The authors believe that the color of the light can also affect the mood of the people, particularly of those who work the night shifts. The scientists also advised to turn off at night computer screens, televisions and other sources of light.

Features of LED strips
LED strip consist of a flexible nonconductor base and two conductive copper foil buses, LEDs and resistors. Conductive buses usually powered by 12V DC. LEDs grouped together in 3 (sequentially connected), along with a resistor also sequentially connected with LEDs. This implies the following useful fact: LED strip can be cut into multiple groups of three LEDs without compromising their working capacity.
All groups of sequentially-connected LEDs and resistors are connected in parallel to the negative and positive buses i.e. if we will power up the LED strip with 12V, it will be on all LED groups in the same time. Assuming that the voltage is applied in the correct polarity: "plus" to the anode of the LED and "minus" to the cathode – LED strip will start to emit the light.
The most used current used in LED strips is 15-20 milliamps (mA). Brightness of the LED depends on the current and its directly proportional, therefore, if the current through the LED will change, for example, from 10 to 20 mA, then the brightness will be doubled as well. And another thing - even when the current three-fold (from 10 to 30 mA), the voltage across the LED is almost unchanged and amounts for different types of white LEDs will be between 3.0 to 3.5 V. Therefore, a chain of three diodes will get 9-10.5 V. i.e. diode current is determined by groups resistor. The difference between the voltage at the LED and power supply voltage determines the electrical current in each group of resistors and LEDs.
What can cause the lack of current on the LED chain? First, the voltage decreases gradually along the stripe because of the small cross section of the conducting buses. Second, the voltage decreases in the electrical system because of its lengths.
1) If you are going to use a LED Strip, do not use 5-6 meter piece, as they usually sold but cut it in two.
2) The greater the distance between the power supply and the LED strip connections, the bigger diameter of the wires you have to choose. For example, if the load power is 100 watts (about 20 meters standard tape) and the distance from the power supply to the connection point 10 meters, you will need a wire 6 mm2 in diameter. Then the losses on the wires will not exceed 40 % brightness.
